Free Glasses

Someone sent this one to me over the weekend. I have not have time to checked out so if you check it out and it’s not true, please let me know.

Target is doing a special promotion for their optical service. It could end any time but will definitely end no later than April 29th..

Children 12 and under can get a free pair of glasses.

They need to bring in a valid prescription for glasses from their doctor and Target will let the child pick from about 40 different frames. They will place their best lenses in the frames which are non-glare and scratch resistant and normally sell for $200.00. There are no income guidelines. Any child 12 or under is eligible.

You can find stores with optical departments at www.target.com to confirm they are participating before making a trip to their store.

Please pass this information on to anyone who can benefit from this promotional offer. If you know someone with lost or broken glasses please share this information with them ASAP, as the promotion could end at any time. They would like families to come in as soon as they can.

The company I work for gave out turkeys to all that work there today. Actually, you could have selected either a turkey or a cheese cake. Since I don’t like cheese cake and I love turkey, you know what I chose. Since I normally go to my parent’s house for holiday meals and since my mom usually cooks turkey, I gave it to her…just like the two pecan pies the company gave out to all that wanted them just before Thanksgiving. I don’t like pecan pie so I gave them both to my parents figuring that my dad and brother would eat them. Well, my mom ate the most out of the two pies.

The moral of the story is: If someone is giving out free stuff, take it. By the way, I found $20 at Target last night. Later…

Now, I could make a massive list of these, like over at FrugalSimplicity.com, but I’m not that interested in spending days making a blog post. I’m not going to do that. Impromptu Money Saver

Just a quick note about something I did today to save money. I work in downtown St. Louis, where parking is at a premium. Everywhere you go, you have to pay to park. I had an appointment today that was going to keep me from going to work today, however, it turns out that the appointment was downtown. It was a little ways away from where I normally park (which work pays for), however, I arrived at my normal parking garage early enough to park there and walk the 8+ blocks to my destination. I saved the $6 or so it would have cost me to park in a garage near my destination. Also, it turned out that the appointment only took 2 hours (not all day like I thought), which meant I could go to work…and I was already parked in the right place.

Free stuff from the trash

I know that does not sound appetizing. Maybe you feel you are above digging in the trash. Think of it as someone giving you something and they just happened to leave it for you in a receptacle that other people put trash in.

I like the Dell keyboard. I like the feel of it and I can really go to town typing on it. On Friday, the person in the cube next to me had a Dell keyboard in their trash can. I asked her about it and as it turns out, there was nothing wrong with it, other than the printing on the letter “N” key was missing. I jumped at the chance and grabbed the keyboard.

After testing it out on my machine, I found that I had just received a free (working) keyboard. WooHoo!!!! I plan on cleaning it just to make sure I don’t get sick months down the road from some hidden germ laying in wait on one of the little-used keys.

Check out FreeStockPhotos.com. This site does not have a lot of free stock photos, but the number is growing and the shots are pretty good.

You should also check out iStockPhoto.com. They also have royalty free photos available for download.

Don’t get me wrong. There are a ton of free stock photo sites. I am planning on starting one myself. Some of these sites blast you with ads and others want you to pay for a membership to the site in order to get access to better photos and more sizes. I want to start mine because I love photography and love to share and undercut those out there wanting to gouge the public.
