A Month of Savings – 07/07/2008

Turn your computer(s) off at night. It’s nice to be able to walk up to the computer and just start using it. We’ve all seen shows where the character walks up to the touch screen on the wall and starts using it. When we are able to produce energy cheaply enough to leave appliances on, you can do that. Until then, if you wish to save a buck, literally, turn your computer off at night.

A student from a town in Indiana recently won a science fair by proving a $1.00/day savings over four computers. He then extrapolated the savings amount of 550 computers and actually convinced a county to change it’s policy on leaving computers on overnight.
