How can keeping track of what you buy save you money?
Another means of saving money at the grocery store (or at any store, for that matter) is to keep track of the price and quantity of items that you buy. If I purchased a can of peas one week at Shop and Save for .50 per can, then the next week purchase the same peas at Aldi for .25 per can (regular price), I need to be going to Aldi to get peas from now on. The problem is, if I don’t keep track of how much things are at various stores, I would never know to only purchase peas at Aldi.
You’ll want to have this list with you when you go to the store so you can check each item before you put it in the cart. You can even write down the price of other items not on this trip’s list.
There are even software programs to help you with this task. One in particular (Grocery List Organizer — shown below), is free to try, but $9.99 to buy, may be worth the money because it allows you to keep prices of items at various stores, which is exactly what you need in order to get the item from the store with the lowest price.
If you have any other ideas concerning keeping track of what you buy, or, you have a story about something that you did that is related to keeping track of what you buy, please leave a comment. Share it. We’d all love to read it.
