Quick Tip of the Day for 5/23/2008
Making sure your tires have the correct pressure can save you money at the pump. Tires that are filled to the manufacturers specs allow the vehicle to move forward with minimal friction. If your tires are low on air, there is increased friction against the ground. Typical tires lose about a pound a month in pressure. When was the last time you check the air in your tires? That increased friction resists the vehicle moving forward and the engine has to work harder to move the car, thus leading to additional gas usage, not to mention the fact that your tires will wear out faster if they are under inflated. The major effect of having under inflated tires is the possibility of a crash occuring due to the reduced handling caused by tires low on air.
Keep your tires at the correct pressure in order to save a little cash at the pump.
