Free Stuff on Craigslist
I thought I would examine one day of the free section of Craigslist to show you how much stuff is out there for the asking. I am examining the St. Louis Missouri Craigslist site.
Just for Monday, April 28th, I found:
- A free computer monitor and multiple VCRs
- Beige Bath Tub
- Bricks
- Firewood
- Sofa and Chair
- Refrigerator
- Dirt – I never would have thought of this one
- Deck Sealer
- …and much more.
Just because it’s used does not mean it’s no good. Why pay a premium just to have some that has never been used? Think about it this way. As soon as you open the package, the item is now considered to be used. That item you get from someone else instead of the store may be in the same condition.
On note of caution. A lot of people advertise things as free because they want someone else to come take it off their hands. They just want to get rid of their problem. Over the past few months, I have been collecting printers and scanners from people who were just giving them away. I figured I could figure out what the problem was, fix it for minimal cost, and sell the item on eBay. After spending quite a bit of time trying to fix two laser printers, I changed my mind. It turns out that both printers were acquired from people just wanting to get rid of their problem.
