Control Your Spending
I can’t remember where I saw this tip, but I had to pass it along. One way you can control your spending is to get another account from your bank and along with that account, get a debit card/check card. Have the bank set up the account to not allow you to spend more than what is in the account. A lot of banks will allow you to go negative in order to collect the overdraft fees. Some banks will set up your account to only allow you to spend what is in your account, although they don’t like to do that. Once that is done, at the beginning of the month, deposit what you want to limit yourself to for that month. Use that card and only that card for spending. Once the money is gone…it’s gone. This is similar to the envelope method of controlling spending.
